Pieter George du Plessis was born on 23 July 1947. He studied at the University
of Pretoria (BCom, MBA) and obtained a Dcom at Stellenbosch University.
He lectured at UNISA and did research for Sanlam. In 1975 he accepted a position as senior lecturer at the University of
Stellenbosch, became associate professor in 1985 and full professor in 1988.
He is editor and co-author of several university textbooks. He also wrote
scripts for the SATV-program, Die ekonomie in beeld
